Cities are often places that an overlanders steer clear of, unless there’s a spectacular sight to be seen or a visa needed. Lima had a fearsome reputation for traffic mayhem and no road rules except for ‘me first’. Should we ride the battle through or skirt as much of it as possible? We had mountains calling, tiny Andean villages to explore, and trails to ride. The decision was a no-brainer. We’d do what we had to do, and no more. Sometimes plans don’t work out as they should!
