Do you ever listen to Podcasts? They keep you company on a long journey, snuggled into your sofa, on the beach, in your workshop and even much doing the washing up fun!
Adventure Rider Radio RAW is an offshoot of perhaps the longest running motorcycle adventure podcast. ARR was founded in 2014 and there’s a new episode every week! And RAW is in it’s 10th year, with an episode every month – usually released around the 20th of a month.
RAW is a show with a difference. Yes, we are talking about round the world motorcycling but instead of a show host and a guest, it’s a panel of experienced moto travellers. The audience set us the topics.
The beauty of the show comes in several shapes and sizes.
Brian and Shirley, from Australia, travelled their journeys around the world two-up. Motorcycle travel nuts, they are also authors.
Grant Johnson, from Canada, also travelled two-up with his wife Susan, is the co-founder of that incredible resource for travellers, Horizons Unlimited.
Michelle Lamphere, from the USA, has a wonderful background of long-distance motorcycle travels, moto tours and is a leading member of the WIMA group. (Women’s International Motorcycle Association)
There’s yours truly, and show host Jim Martin, from Canada, who is a past master at keeping we individual spirits on track.
The beauty of this mix is that, as we have all travelled in such different ways, the answers to the topics are widespread.
The show has been described as being, ‘Rather like sitting round a campfire with a bunch of friends swapping tales of the road, useful information and banter’.
I hope you have the chance to join us. This is the latest show.
‘Adventure motorcycle travel means stepping into the unknown—and sometimes the unexpected happens. In this episode of ARR RAW, the panel looks at the kinds of emergencies riders can face on the road, from political instability and sudden border closures to medical issues, extreme weather, and the occasional bureaucratic nightmare. Drawing from real-world experience, the group discusses what these situations can actually look like when you’re traveling by motorcycle and why thinking about them before you leave can make a big difference.’
